The Deputy Chaplain General, The Right Reverend: Bishop Gwynne, D D visited the Regiment and took a voluntary evening service, where everyone in the Regiment who could find room was present.

On the 31st December the Composite Company moved off under the command of Major Brocklehurst, with Captain Eyles, officer commanding support platoon, in charge of the armoured cars. No one was told at the time exactly what their role would be, but it was later discovered that it consisted of holding part of the line under No. 4 Special Service Commando Brigade opposite the Scheldt estuary, with the Germans still entrenched on the opposite island of Schouwen en Duiveland.
1965 – 2359 hrs The Regiment ceased to be known as 1st Green Jackets, (43rd & 52nd).
1966 – January 1st – 0001 hrs – Became 1st Battalion, The Royal Green Jackets (43rd & 52nd)
