The 'Forlorn Hope' consisted of 1 Officer, 1 Sjt and 31 rank and file of the Regiment, nearly all of whom were killed or wounded.

Captain R J Brett, Transport Officer, took over command of Letter C Company from 2nd Lieutenant R Blackwell.
