1917 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – CAMBRIN.
The Regiment was relieved by the 11th Bn the Cheshire Regiment and proceeded on relief to MONTMORENCY BARRACKS, BETHUNE.

1917–1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – CANAL BANK.
Quiet Day. Rain pretty continuous.
Working Party of 1 Officer & 50 OR in afternoon at ST JULIEN.
Ration Strength 20 Officers 522 OR

The day passed without incident.

CANAL BANK.
Battn moved at 9.20am to dugouts in CANAL BANK arriving about 9.45am.
Became Divl Reserve.
Rained Off & On all day.
Ground Very Wet

1777 – 43rd and 52nd – engaged at German Town (America).

1902 - 1st Bn Oxf LI. - arrived in England from the South African (Boer) War

1917 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – CAMBRIN.
89th Reinforcement 1 Serjeant and 50 Rank and File joined.
The Regiment relieved the 2nd Bn Highland Light Infantry on the Canal Right Subsection.
A discharge of gas and bombardment in co-operation therewith was carried out on the right, extending as near to the Regiment as the front of the battalion of 99th Infantry Brigade next on the right.

1917–1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – FRONT LINE TO REIGURSBURG CAMP
2 Platoons A Coy & 2 Platoons D Coy left in line to act as an outpost Coy during forming up & first phase of attack.
Remainder of Battn left their positions at 4.30am & moved direct to REGURSBURG CAMP H6a (sheet 28 NW 1/2000)
Outpost Coy left at 9am.
Casualties – Other Ranks Killed 4, -Wounded 2.

Zero for 143 Inf Bde who attacked in cooperation with Divisions on the Right & Left was 6am.
Attack supported by an intense artillery & MG barrage.
Result
1st Objective (TWEED HO – YORK + WINCHESTER FMs – ALBATROSS FM) was captured by 8.30am.
2nd Objective except for VACHER FARM & BURNS HO captured by 10.30am.
In evening as men could be made out, our line now TERRIER FM – COUNTY X RDS – V26d70 – D3a03 – KRONPRINZ FM (excl).
3 officers & 320 OR passed through Divl cages, these were of 369 IR, 370 IR, 371 IR.
2 Anti tank guns & numerous Light MG captured.
Ration Strength 15 officers 652 OR.

1868 - 52nd - arrived at Malta.

1917 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – CAMBRIN.
Casualties: 3 Other Ranks Wounded.

1917–1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – LINE V 25.C 9.6 To D1d 4.7
C Coy shelled intermittently all day. Also HUBNER FARM & the TRIANGLE-ST JULIEN RD.
For first time enemy shelled D Coy in CEMETERY & STROOM TRENCHES, some 8 15cm shell falling in this vicinity.
2 Coys 1/6 R WARWICKS & whole of 1/7 WARWICKS came up in evening passing HIBOU about 8pm, preparatory to forming up along our front for attack in morning. Guides supplied by us.
Gas discharged from Projectors on our front. Target WELLINGTON FM.
Sniping less than on previous night, but enemy shelling increased considerably.
Usual patrols sent out.
Some light rain fell about 2am & continued until 5am.
Night excellent for forming up.
Casualties – Wounded 5 OR.
Ration Strength 25 officers 566 OR.

1810 - The Light Division retiring on Torres Vedras, reached Pombal

1917 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – CAMBRIN.
The following Officers joined from home and were posted as shaown:-

Very Fine- Good Visibility.
Enemy shelling rather heavy. Chief targets “ C” Coy trench & Coy HQ_also TRIANGLE – ST JULIEN RD.
Sniping active during night.
CAPT M BOWEN sniped whilst going round Right Coys line – Wounded dangerously, base of lung.
2 Patrols sent out by each of A & D Coys.
CAPT G R CROUCH reported from Leave. Remained at BN HQ as 2nd in Command.
Some light rain during night.
Casualties Officers - 1 Wounded (CAPT M BOWEN)
OR – 3 Killed, - 9 Wounded
Ration Strength 25 Officers 572 OR

1917 – 1/4th (TF) Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – To REIGERSBERG CAMP (Ypres)

1917 – 5th (S) Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – Relieved from Trenches and returned to BRISTOL CASTLE (Ypres)

1853 – 52nd – Headquarters 52nd arrived at Calcutta on its second visit to India.

1917 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – CAMBRIN.
Normal Dispositions of the Support Battalion were resumed, i.e. D Coy moved from SHAW’S CUT to the Company Area North of the Canal.
1st Lt E F SCHMITZ United States Medical Corps left the Regiment and Capt B L HUTCHENCE R.A.M.C. joined in relief.

Very Fine. Visibility Good
C Coy shelled intermittently throughout day. Also HUBNER FARM.
Front line very Quiet, with good deal of sniping at night, chiefly owing to very bright moonlight.
Patrols sent out at night by each front Coy.
D Coy took over their old positions in evening without incident.

1917 – 6th (S) Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – Reached BAPAUME 8PM and marched to camp near HAPLINCOURT.

1918 - 2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI - Battle of the Canal du Nord.
