1900 – 1st Bn Oxf LI – took part in the advance on Bloemfontein (Boer War).
1906 – 2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI – The Short Magazine Rifle (SMLE) and 1904 Pattern equipment was issued.

Capt COMBES took out patrol of 21 NCOs & men to 16 POPLARS after dark.
Bombed enemy who were found working in CHEMIN CREUX. Germans suffered at least 12 casualties.
Our casualties were 3 slightly wounded, all at duty.
Following men distinguished themselves SGT BALDWIN, CORPL BALDWIN, LCPL COLBROOK, PTE GOLDSWAIN, PTE HAZZARD, TIMSON, TODD E.
