On this day 5th March
1791 - Commencement of the siege of Bangalore, 52nd present.
1915 – 2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI -In Trenches CUINCHY.
Quiet on the whole, and more so by day than by night as regards “sniping”.
By day some shelling.
2 Machine Guns were rather badly damaged by fire of enemy.
Trenches very good: they covered a deep area; Communication trenches abundant.
Rain all one day made them very muddy and sticky but they dry up very quickly.
Casualties: 1 man Killed, 1 man Wounded
1945 – 1st Bn Oxf & Bucks LI – North West Europe
On the 5th B Company moved forward to relieve the 4th Royal Welch Fusiliers
