Route Marching and Company Training carried out daily on ground in close vicinity of town.
1915 – 1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – PLOEGSTEERT WOOD
Bn in trenches. All quiet in morning from 1.50pm - 2.15pm enemy shelled wood about SOMERSET HO with 6” HE& incendiary shells, 67 shells falling within a radius of about 70 yards. At 5pm platoon of D Coy in THREE HUNS & BULLS BURNT Farms were shelled with shrapnel. 2 men wounded. One man killed (Pte Baker) + one wounded in new breastwork held by C Coy. Working party arranged for night to strengthen parados as apparently this part enfiladed.
1945 – 1st Bn Oxf & Bucks LI – North West Europe
Halted in Guyhum.
1945 -2nd (Airborne) Bn, Oxf & Bucks LI - NWE Suttorf
After repeated changes in timings, the Regiment marched out at 1700 hrs & crossed the ELBE by the Class 9 Bridge.
Then turned East following the 3rd Para Brigade to HORST 9235.
