1810 - The Light Division retiring on Torres Vedras, reached Pombal
1915 – 2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI -VERMELLES.
In trenches near HULLOCH.
Little signs could be seen of the enemy’s infantry opposite us.
Very little shelling by day but a good deal by night when an attempt was being made close on our left to turn the enemy out of about 200 yards of trench where they had forced an entry in the line previous to our arrival the previous day.
The attempt by the 2/HLI to regain this part of the line was only partially successful.
