On this day 27th September:-
1810 - Battle of Busaco; Pte. James Hopkins, 52nd, in this action took prisoner the French General Simon.
1872 – 43rd – Embarked at Queenstown and sailed for Cannanore East Indies.
43rd Depot was left in Cork attached to 2nd Bn 7th Royal Fusiliers.
1916 –2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI – SARTON.
Training in vicinity of billets ordered to be proceeded with 4 hours notice of move probable.
1916 – 1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – BERNEUIL
Battn in Billets. –
The above programme was repeated.
