The commanding officer issued some notes on operations in severe cold. These show the very great care and foresight with which this problem was handled. Every man was able to enjoy two hours in a company rest area daily. Here were constant hot water, dry socks and hot food. Special white helmet covers were improvised. The result of this care was that no soldiers were evacuated because of bad feet and morale was very high. The German case was reversed and many miserable prisoners passed through the Regiment's hands.
