Very Quiet period, though at intervals some bombardment by trench mortar bombs and rifle grenades.
Casualties: 5 men wounded.(over the period 30th July-1st August)

On the 1st August a letter was received from Colonel Montgomery, No. 101 Beach Sub-Area, thanking everyone for his good work and loyal co-operation.
Following this and the recent change of command, all beach group signs were removed from uniforms and vehicles pending a decision on what sign was to be worn in the future.
1956 – 1st Bn Oxf & Bucks LI (43rd & 52nd) – (Warley Barracks, Brentwood)
0815 hrs. The official signal was received informing the Regiment that the move to Hong Kong was cancelled. All ranks were immediately recalled from leave to prepare for a move to the Middle East.
