On this day 18th NOVEMBER
1810 - The Light Division - at Valle (Portugal) went into winter quarters opposite the French Army under Marshal Massena
1812 – Light Division - Retreat from Salamanca continued; after a nights bivouac in flooded land, continued march knee deep in water.
1916 –2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI –MAILLY MAILLET to BERTRANCOURT.
The Regiment now began a series of marches, with a view to ultimately reaching the place of "Rest and Training";
The moves as under were effected without incident. A few men fell out but rejoined, on several days, but in view of the recent operations in my view the men marched excellently.
1916 – 1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – MARTINPUICH 70TH TRENCH 26TH AVENUE
Battn in Dugouts & Trenches.
At night A & D found large R.E. Carrying Parties, C Coy carried Water for the 1/4 OXFORD & BUCKS LI.
