During this period (14th-18th) notification was received that Brigadier General C E COCKRAN C.M.G. Grenadier Guards had been posted from command of 5th Infantry Brigade to that of 3rd (Guards) Brigade: and that Brigadier General G M Bullen-Smith D.S.O., The Leinster regiment had been appointed in his stead.

At 12.30am night 15/16 enemy opened heavy bombardment of our trenches, & trenches of Battns on our Right & Left.
Bombardment lasted till 1.30am when it died down considerably.
No enemy entered our trenches.
All Quiet by 2.30am.
Our casualties 1 Killed 14 Wounded.

Normal peace-time routine continues. Fine weather & plenty of recreational facilities. The chief business in hand is the working out of release groups. An advance party from the artillery of 5th British Division arrived to look at our area with a view to taking over.
