11pm – A German Patrol emerged from round North side of Football Crater and bombed our wiring party in front of right picket.
We retaliated vigorously with bombs (ours are much superior now to the German Bombs) and quiet was restored and the wiring proceeded.
Information received that Lt Col Eden D.S.O. had been posted to the temporary command of the 24th Infantry Brigade.

The Battalion was relieved early in the morning by 1/4 OXFORD & BUCKS LI & moved to bivouacs close to the BUS – BAYENCOURT & SAILLY – COIGNEUX cross roads.

Last night's patrols reported no change in the enemy's disposns on our front.
At 0655 this morning two of four ME 109s were shot down over our area while carrying out a low level machine gun attack. 'C' Coy harassing the fwd enemy posns with 2" Mortar PIAT and Bren fire. 'D' Coy snipers killed two of the enemy at 16.00 and 19.30 hrs.
