1916 – 2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI – R.8 to HERSIN
Relief by the 10th Bn West Riding Regiment (69th Brigade, 23rd Division).
This did not begin on this occasion till 6pm.
Very well carried out.
Regiment billeted for night at HERSIN (CORONS area).
1916 – 1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – HEBUTERNE PT K17/5-K23/6
Battalion in Trenches.
At 2am Enemy opened a violent bombardment of our Right Coys trenches & Left Battalion of 144 Bde.
The bombardment continued till 3am.
Trenches suffering most – DOMINIQUE. CLISSOLD & FT K23/7.
Gas was distinctly smelt at 3am & this developed into quite a cloud. Colour White & smelt very sickly.
No attack developed on our front owing to our own artillery & Machine Gun fire.
At 4pm all was quiet. Our casualties 13 all wounded majority C Coy.
1924 – 1st Bn Oxf & Bucks LI – In order that the wearing of the Regimental Button on the Service Dress, as authorised by A.C.I. No 129 of 1924, might be carried out without delay, it was decided that these buttons would be placed on sale in the Regimental Institutes.
1944 - 6th Bn Oxf & Bucks LI - move to Burma
