1900 - Arrived BERESNIK and went into camp at OSINOVA.
Orders received for Regiment and 239 T.M.B. to move up VAGA RIVER tomorrow, and take over from troops going home.
Baggage barge arrived on the 4th June.
1927 - 20TH (LIGHT) DIVISION WAR MEMORIAL - UNVEILING
THE memorial to the 20th (Light) Division of which the 6th (Service) Battalion formed part, was unveiled at Langemarck, near Ypres, on Sunday, June 5th, 1927. The memorial which is in the form of a pyramid, stands close to a farm building, which has been built over the site of the "Au bon Gite" dug-out.
The unveiling was carried out by Major-General Sir Douglas Smith, who commanded the division during the action on August 16th, 1917, when the village of Langemarck was captured. Three buglers came from the 43rd, from the British Army of the Rhine, to take part in the ceremony. Amongst those who were present were Bishop Shaw and Lieut.-Colonel C. R. C. Boyle, D.S.O., who commanded the battalion during the action.
1944 – 2nd (Airborne) Bn Oxf & Bucks LI
At 2256 hrs on the 5th June (D minus 1) the six gliders carrying the coup-de-main party of Letter D Company and two platoons of Letter B Company with attached Royal Engineers and other attached personnel took off from RAF Tarrant Rushton and crossed the Channel in company with an enormous fleet of heavy bombers on one of their usual raids.
