On this day 26th February
1852- 43rd - Loss of the Birkenhead off Danger Point, South Africa; the 43rd had a draft of 1 Officer, 1 Sjt., and 40 rank and file on board, of whom only 1 Officer (Lieut. Girirdot) and 14 rank and file were saved.
1918 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – METZ-EN-COUTURE.
1918 –1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion - PAESE.
Battalion Paraded at 8.30am and marched to SELVA area,
Billeting party under MAJOR HALL proceeded at 8am to new area.
Battalion arrived in Billets at 12.30pm.
Billets quite good but very scattered, Transport being at VOLPAGO.
CAPT J B HALES to 145 Inf Bde HQers for attachment.
Ration Strength: 39 officers 813 OR. Casualties: 2 OR.
