1811 - The Light Division encamped near Sabugal (Peninsula)
1918 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – VARENNES.
The day was quiet, uneventful and fine.
1945- 2nd (Airborne) Bn, Oxf & Bucks LI – NWE Dortmund-Ems Canal
We had to wait until 0730 hrs for our transport which had been held up because the RE's bridge took longer than had been anticipated.
We passed through LADBERGEN, held up by the Canadian Para Bn & shortly afterwards "D" Coy leading came under small & Heavy AA fire from a position at 015932.
The position was engaged by fire from Mediums, light artillery, mortars and MMG's. "D" Coy then attacked.
The equipment in this position included 12-10.5cm. AA guns & some 20mm.
4 Germans were killed & 5 taken prisoner, the remainder having run away.
"D" Coy then pushed on, being occasionally held up by slight opposition.
At X roads 039930, A Coy pushed through "D" & riding on Churchills of the 4th Guards Armoured Brigade turned North towards LENGERICH, which we entered at 1700 hrs.
After a skirmish on the wooded high ground North East of the town the Regiment finally took up a fairly tight position around the North East edge.
1963 – 1st Green Jackets, 43rd & 52nd – Arrived back at Penang (Malaya) after service in Brunei
1964 – 1st Green Jackets, 43rd & 52nd - The Regiment was brought to readiness to move to Borneo aboard H.M.S. Bulwark.
One company was ordered to move and "A" Company was chosen
