1854 - 43rd arrived at Madras (India) from South Africa.
1915 – 2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI In trenches near FESTUBERT.
Not much shelling or sniping. Work went on every night at the construction of new breastworks near the line of the old trenches which had been abandoned owing to water about December. There are 500 to 600 yards in front of the line at present held. The working party was only fired on once - on 29th January.
These breastworks were held at night by small advanced posts which were withdrawn at daylight.
