Comparitively quiet day but the enemy made several more fruitless counter attacks on GAVRELLE.

Breakfasts eaten by 4.15am after which time Battn “Stood by” during operations being carried out by 144 Inf Bde.
At 5.30am orders received to “Stand to”. Remained standing to until 3pm.
Result of operations – Divn captured GILLEMONT FARM, the KNOLL & the SPUR (X30).
Enemy recaptured the FARM & KNOLL but one or two posts thought to be still holding out in FARM.
Further attack by 144 Bde arranged for tonight.

On the 24th the Regiment was relieved of its positions and moved round to Scheessel (1609) and later to Hetzwege (1112) as a preliminary to an attack north-west the following day.
