On this day 20th March
1814 – 43rd and 52nd - Engagement at Tarbes with the French (Peninsula).
1917 – 2nd Bn OXF & BUCKS LI – WOLF HUTS.
1917 – 1/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion – CAMP 56 (CAPPY-ECLUSIER RD)
Bn in Divl Reserve. –
Battn left CAMP 56 at 1pm and marched to PERONNE via HERBECOURT – BIACHES – BAZINCOURT FARM – HALLE.
Advance parties were sent ahead to reconnoitre the outpost line covering PERONNE & for billeting.
Bn arrived at PERONNE about 4pm.
The town had been completely wrecked by the enemy and was still burning in several places. Coys were billeted in cellars on NW side of the square. Bn HQ were at the Chateau. Transport were in a field just E of LA QUINCONCE.
Ration Strength 21 Officers 637 OR
1947 – 2nd Bn Oxf & Bucks LI - received notification that the 52nd Light Infantry must lapse into Suspended Animation.
